The 2024 Conference of the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Rehabilitation Medicine Association and the 7th Great Wall International Academic Conference on Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation was successfully held in Changchun on August 31. The theme of this conference was 'Learning from the Past to Know the Future, Striving for Progress, Creating a New Future', featuring a main forum on 'International and Domestic Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation' and four sub-forums on 'Exercise, Nutrition, Medication', 'Psychology, Smoking Cessation, Sleep and Others', 'Elderly Care', and 'Stent Life Club Forum', presenting a total of 55 exciting reports. The richness of content and breadth of topics received high praise from attendees.

The event brought together top experts in cardiovascular diseases and cardiac rehabilitation from home and abroad to share cutting-edge concepts in cardiovascular treatment and rehabilitation. Professor Hu pointed out that with heart disease becoming more prevalent among younger individuals, enhancing personal health knowledge and capabilities is particularly important.

He emphasized that healthy lifestyle choices contribute up to 60% to longevity, while treatment costs and trauma after illness are much higher, contributing only 6% to health. Therefore, it is essential to promote a shift from 'passive treatment' to 'active health' through lifestyle medicine—achieved by moderate exercise, reasonable diet, smoking cessation, limiting alcohol intake, and maintaining psychological balance.
